Introducing the "Dirty Little Secrets" Screencast

Silverlight Logo

I'd like to introduce you to my new screencast called "Shawn Wildermuth's Dirty Little Secrets". The aim of this screencast is to teach a techniques I've learned in a video format.  Unlike a PodCast, I won't be interviewing other people, but instead its 10-15 minutes with me and my screen. We'll be teaching you topics from Silverlight, data access, software design or anything that I think would aid my readers.

Currently you can subscribe to the screencast though I haven't been able to test the iTunes integration yet.  If you have trouble with the iTunes version, let me know!

The plan is to do this screencast twice a month.

Shawn, great tip. I kind of didn't exactly get what you did and meant at the end with the "ClockActive" thing. Could you explain it please? You mentioned something about larger animation!
Thanks!

Shawn -- FYI
iTunes fails with the following error message: 'There are no playable episodes for "Shawn Wildermuth's Dirth Little Secrets Screencast". The Url might point to text-only episodes, or contain file types that iTunes cannot play.'

Bob,

Sorry about that...I think its that iTunes can't play .wmv. I need to figure out how to specify more than one type of video so that Zune guys don't have to re-encode and iTunes guys can just use it. I'll blog once I get it working.

Ben,

The ClockActive stuff is to just prevent recursion. If you have a longer-lived animation, starting it will start the entire time frame over and using ClockActive to test if the animation is running or not is a good solution for that.

Thanks Shawn!

Should't it be "Dirty Little Screencasts" instead? I suppose that would prompt people to expect it to be something quite different.

Hi Shawn,

Great screencast - just what I needed for some flyout menus.

Thank you for sharing,
David
