Humanitarian Toolbox

imageI’m happy to announce that I will be working with the Humanitarian Toolbox to both help publicize this important project as well as work on some of the projects. This is an important open source project that is trying to do some real good for the world out there.

If you’re anything like me, you like to make a difference. The Humanitarian Toolbox is a place to make a difference. They are helping people during disaster response by using technology.

Their mission statement is really simple:

Improve the response capabilities of lead disaster response organizations through use of a “toolbox” of community built and maintained pre-packaged, rapidly deployable solutions. The Humanitarian Toolbox will deliver the latest advances in Microsoft and our partners’ technology to response organizations to facilitate faster response, minimize recovery time, speed donation and distribution of vital resources, and provide access to information as communities recover and rebuild.

Get Involved!

The Humanitarian Toolbox is an open source effort, so you can get involved by simply forking the main project and helping out. Their Crisis Checkin Application is hosted right on GitHub. They are taking pull requests if you want to help!

In particular if there are any Xamarin developers who want to help out, they need some help with some issues with their mobile app. See the issues list on GitHub:

Do you have what it takes to help?
