I am excited to be asked to speak in Berlin this November at TechEd Europe 2009. This event is happening November 9-13th in Berlin, Germany. If you have a chance, it'll be a great time to see and be seen. There are a lot of great speakers that are all a must-see (humbling a bit).
I'll be doing two talks and participating in a panel:
The panel is "Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Microsoft Silverlight, But Were Afraid to Ask" with Tim Heuer, Oliver Scheer and Damir Tomicic (and me!)
Bring your toughest questions...
Come join me in Sweden for this amazing conference with all your favorite speakers. I'll be talking about "What's New in Silverlight 3" as well as "Why Oslo Matters".

I will be in Nashville, TN in August 13 - 15, 2009 to speak at the DevLink conference. DevLink is a great deal at $75 for three days of technical content. I will be doing sessions on:
Will it Blend?: It’s easy to assume that the Expression toolset is just for designers. It’s even got that cool dark background with a completely non-Windows looking skin. But is that the reality? In this session I will show developers how Blend can be used to make their jobs quite a bit easier, even without a single ounce of artistic talent.
Slides Code
Silverlight + MVVM = Easy: Building a simple gadget or proof-of-concept in Silverlight is a pleasurable experience. But for larger applications, we should be able to leverage some of the tried and true software development patterns to help us build reliable and robust solutions. One of the most power of these techniques is the model-view-view-model (MVVM) pattern. In this session, I will present a example of building your applications using the MVC pattern to enable testability and separation of concerns.

In this two day course, students will learn the next level of creating exceptional applications in Silverlight 2. Microsoft's Oslo is trying to change the way that software is designed, developed and delivered. They are introducing a platform for building real, scalable and manageable model-driven applications. Being an early adopter of this platform will prepare you for our changing world.

If you're in Atlanta, come by SQL Saturday and hear some of the best SQL Server speakers in the area. I will be there to talk about both of these topics:
Using MSchema in Project Lifecycles
While tools like Visual Studio's Database projects can help build and version databases, Oslo's new MSchema language can provide a powerful abstraction from the minutea of data models. In this talk I will show you how to use MSchema for build/deployment scenarios and using it to version your schemas.

ADO.NET Data Services for DBAs
The idea of exposing data across the Internet is a scary thought for most DBAs, but ADO.NET Data Services provides the security to allow you to feel better about how its handled. Since so many applications now require the Internet, ADO.NET Data Services represents a sensible way to provide that data. Come to this talk to be talked down from the ledge of fear about the technology.

You've probably heard, "In the .NET world, if you need data access, just use ADO.NET". Hmmm...ADO.NET, just a maturation of ADO? Hardly. ADO.NET is a completely different paradigm in data access and manipulation. Understanding when to use this new disconnected model or the higher performing connected model Is the challenge of ADO.NET Whether you are new to database development or are an old ADO user, you will need to understand why ADO.NET was written. This is not your father's ADO.

Don't believe the rumors. ADO.NET does not have to be that difficult. Shawn Wildermuth will be teaching you the secrets fo getting the most out of ADO.NET in the fewest keystrokes possible. Everything from how to correctly use connection pooling to the magic tricks of the Data Designers.
As the newness of .NET wears off, application developers must move past the “how to” of data access development and start considering the best ways to get things done. In this session, we’ll do just that, starting with an intelligent approach to the DataSet vs. DataReader question followed by discussion of more specialized issues like connection pooling, transactions, handling multiple result sets, and the finer points of typed datasets.
