I finally got to speak at a live event! This week I headed to Kansas City for KCDC, one of my favorite regional events.

I had great fun today talking with the netPonto User Group on Zoom. It was a fun group who had great questions about gRPC.

I recently offered my speaking skills on Twitter since I'm stuck at the house. My wife really wants me out of the house, but luckily I like the sound of my own voice enough that virtual talks fill that same void.

I had the opportunity to talk on the .NET Conf last week. Was fun to talk about .NET API Versioning. I love how much easier it is, these days, to be able to implement routing than it used to.

I've had a great time this week attending two events and talking about things I love: .NET and Vue.

I had the opportunity to speak at the Atlanta Vue Meetup recently. This was a great group of people who had mostly had experience with Vue.js.

I had a great time presenting to the Atlanta .NET Users' Group last night. I talked about where I think Vue.js.

Finally heading home from about a month of conferences! I can't wait to get back to my own bed, but in the mean time I've had a great time sharing talks with a lot of European developers!

I'm in the middle of a road trip for three conferences and it's been an amazing time. Next up is Techorama Netherlands! I am lucky to be asked to speak at so many amazing conferences.

Just got home from Music City Code conference had a great time catching up with attendees and other speakers. If you haven't made it to this great Nashville event before, plan for next year. It's well worth it.

Orlando during Spring Break probably wasn't the best idea, but luckily I got to go to the Orlando Code camp instead of fighting people at Disney.

I'm getting around to this a little late, but late last month I had a great time presenting in Charlotte's Enterprise Developer's Guild. I showed them how ASP.NET Core 2 works.

So KCDC is over for another year. This was my first year at the event and the organizers made me so welcome. Highly recommended!

Just got back from Chattanooga, TN for Scenic City Summit. I got to do two talks there and had some great audiences and questions.

I had the opportunity to present ASP.NET Core 2.0 to a great group in Birmingham, AL tonight. The attendees were almost as good as the BBQ!

The great organizers of Wrocsharp invited us to come to Poland and present at an unusual conference. I had a great time and everyone was just lovely to me and my wife!

I had the good fortune of being picked to speak at the Boston Code Camp for their winter event. As some of you know I used to live in Boston and it was a fun few days of reminicence.

We just left Sydney after a great few days of the NDC Sydney conference. Saw some very cool talks about ASP.NET Core and Angular2!

We’re home. It’s a fantastic feeling, but we had a great time. I wanted to take some time to thank all the great attendees, guests and helpers that made this a great trip. We got some great podcasts and hopefully encouraged a lot of people to try out ASP.NET Core!

The Hello World Road Trip part two has started. Me and the missus headed out of Atlanta to Belgium for our first stop.

We’re in San Francisco today and I thought it would be a good time to write a quick update to the trip. As some of you know, we’re currently in the middle of a twenty-five city trip and so far so good.

I had a great time today talking about ASP.NET 5 on a Pluralsight webinar. Over 1,000 people were able to attend. Thank you all for tuning in!

I’m diligently working towards my new Pluralsight course and I am very excited about it. The new course is an end-to-end building of a web app using ASP.NET 5, MVC6, Entity Framework 7, Angular 1.4, and Bootstrap 3.x.

We’re excited to announce that the 10th Annual Atlanta Code Camp is coming this fall on October 24th, 2015! We’re holding it at Kennesaw State University in Marietta, Georgia.

I’m currently in southeast Asia for my world tour. While in Singapore, I had the pleasure to chat with a great group of developers about AngularJS.

I’m on the World Tour and this stop is in Delhi, India! While here I had the fun opportunity to give a talk on AngularJS to a great group at Sapient in Delhi, India.

This week, I’m in Köln, Germany for two short events. This is one of my favorite cities and I spent time here back in the early ‘90s as a street musician. I didn’t need an excuse to visit this great city, but I had one anyway.

I had the pleasure of being invited to come to Zagreb, Croatia for the Advanced Technology Days! Though my Croatian is pretty dusty (by that I mean completely missing), I got to talk to a lot of great devs and have a wonderful lunch!

For my last stop of my UK user group tour, I stopped in the town of Aberdeen. This is as far north as I’ve ever been. It’s at 57 degrees north latitude. That’s the same as Juneau Alaska! Luckily it’s summer time.

It’s been a busy week. Today I got to spend the day in Glasgow and see the city a bit. In the evening I got to talk to a great group of developers about Angular.js. They were mostly open to the ideas about building interactive pages with Angular.js.

I’m now on the Scotland swing of my Wilder World Tour.  Had a chance to stop by Edinburgh. What a lovely city, at least as much as I’ve seen so far.

My next stop this week was in the town of Gloucester in England. The group that ran this meetup was great and had everything setup to make this an easy talk to give. I especially want to thank Franck Terray and Sophie Lipowska for running the meetup.

The last stop of the week was in Nottingham. I had a chat with the Sheriff about some stolen hoodies. At least that’s what I thought he said – his accent was quite thick ; )

I stopped by the small town of Hereford to talk to them about Node.js on Monday. The small, but very enthusiastic group was great! If you get a chance stop by and visit this adorable small town.

As my first talk in the UK, I was tasked with doing two talks in one day.  The group was a lot of fun and asked some key questions.

Next week I start a short swing around southern and south-midlands England. I had hoped to do more events in England, but this short swing of four user groups is all I’m doing in England (though I’ll be in close-by Scotland in early August and Ireland in September).

I recently had the pleasure of talking to the “A Bunch of Devs” user group in Atlanta about Web API. I had never spoken at this group and I had a great time.

I’ve had a great time being interviewed by the .NET Rocks guys over the years in a variety of ways. This week on the Hello World Podcast I get to turn the tables and interview Richard.

John and I have been in many of the same tech circles going back to the ADO.NET days. I was delighted to get to spend some time with him at the recent Pluralsight Author Summit.

This week I got to talk to K. Scott Allen of OdeToCode and Pluralsight fame. If you haven’t had a chance to watch his Pluralsight courses or hear him talk at a conference near you, you are certainly missing out.

I’ve been reading Mary Jo Foley’s take on Microsoft for a greater number of years than either of us would like to admit. I’ve been fascinated with her ability to get the early news on most things Microsoft. This week I got a chance to chat with her on my podcast.

I literally learned everything I know about WCF (though that might not be much of a boast) from Michele’s great book on the subject. I got to talk with Michele this week. Our conversation was less about software and more about building a career. We chatted about the nature of passion, workaholic tendencies and the easiest job in the world.

This week I talk with Glenn Block. If you’re using MEF, Web API, or ScriptCS – you have him to thank. I am really grateful that he agreed to wake up at 7am Seattle time to speak with me.  It was great  to hear that Glenn and I shared a lot of early experiences: dBase, Visual Basic, and Radio Shack (ok that last one is Glenn alone ; )

This week on the Hello World Podcast I had the exceptional experience to interview one of my heroes. Charles Petzold’s books on Windows development was key in my development as a software engineer. I bought my copy back in the early ‘90s when I was doing C++ development. It’s amazing how much you can learn about how the Windows works by writing your own message pump. Take a listen and hear how this luminary got started!

Thanks for all the support to everyone who’s been listening to my new podcast it’s been awesome to record. I’ve had a great time talking about how people got their start in software development. I thought there would be more commonality in first computers and languages, but it’s remarkably varied.

A new episode of my new podcast is out. In this episode I talk with Brian Noyes about how he got started. It’s an interesting story that involves fighter jets, DirectX and Visual Basic!

The third episode of my podcast (“The Hello World Podcast”) is now available. In this episode I had the chance to sit down with Chris at the MVP Summit (which explains the background noise). He is one of my best friends (and my best man at my upcoming wedding).

I am happy to announce that I am starting a podcast. I’ve been thinking about this for a while but I didn’t want to just do another podcast that talked about what is new in software development.

I finished up my post-con for AngleBrackets today and am ready to head home. I had a great time and just spectacular attendees who had great questions! If you have a chance to go to AngleBrackets (or it’s sister conference, DevIntersection) make the trip. They’re coming to Orlando this fall!

My book about my life as a software developer (The Opinionated Software Developer: What Twenty-Five Years of Slinging Code Has Taught Me) is available for free until October 31st. Consequently this is same the time I am at AngleBrackets  (part of DevIntersection) in Las Vegas talking about Mobile Web, PhoneGap and Designing for Developers.

As the leaves change, I realize that I am going to be on the road a bit this month. I am doing a conference, a meetup and the MVP summit. I just want to get my Skymiles Platinum card ; )

Thanks to all who showed up to see me talk about AngularJS at the recent Atlanta .NET User's Group. At the talk, I wrote the client-side code for an AngularJS app by hand. The slides are pretty thin, but the code includes all the functionality I showed. I promised the slides and code so here they are!

I've been honored to help put together the Atlanta Code Camp this year. This year's event is happening on August 24th here in Atlanta and we're expecting to have eight tracks covering a mix of developer, designer and some IT professional talks. I've attended this event the past eight or so years and it's always a good time. I decided it was time to help out.

I had a great time at ReMIX South this year! It's been great to meet developers and designers and learn how they are using design tools of all sorts.

Just finished my talk at DevLink on "A Better CSS: LESS is More…". It was a good crowd and I was surprised that so many people had already heard of LESS which is awesome. Hopefully I covered the breadth of the language. It was a fun crowd and it's been a fun conference. If you haven't had a chance to get to Chattanooga and see the fresh water aquarium, it shouldn't be missed!

Just back from the CodeStock 2012 event and I want to thank Michael and everyone involved for a great event. I met a lot of great people and had a great time in Knoxville. Both sessions were well attended. I especially wanted to thank those attendees who attended my 2 1/2 hour marathon session on Modern Web Development (see my blog series on it here).

My 2012 conference schedule is shaping up nicely. I will visiting a series of conferences, code camps and user groups this year. Last year I didn't do this nearly as much as I was building a failed product. So back to my love of badges and beer. If you have the opportunity to be at any of these great events, do it. I love them all. (Also, if you see me at an event, please stop by and say hello.  As many can attest, I don't bite much.)
